System Engineering
Our System Engineering curriculum focuses on designing, deploying, and operating
modern Windows-based and hybrid environments. Courses cover endpoint management,
server infrastructure, identity and access management, network services, and
resilience across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid platforms (e.g. Microsoft 365,
Azure, VMware, Hyper-V).
-
Windows 10 & 11 Enterprise Environment – Architecture, feature sets,
security baselines, endpoint hardening, and integration with Microsoft Entra ID
(formerly Azure AD) and Microsoft Intune.
-
System Installation & Deployment – Automated deployments with MDT,
Windows Autopilot, configuration management, and golden image strategies for
physical, virtual, and VDI environments.
-
Configuration & System Policies – Group Policy, MDM policies,
configuration profiles, security baselines, and policy-driven compliance in
hybrid AD/Entra environments.
-
File Systems & Storage Architecture – NTFS, ReFS, SMB, DFS,
quotas, storage spaces, tiering, and integration with NAS/SAN and cloud storage.
-
Disk Layout & Partitions – GPT/UEFI vs. MBR/BIOS, disk provisioning,
BitLocker encryption, and OS recovery strategies.
-
Fault Tolerance & High Availability – Clustering, failover,
load balancing, backup and restore, snapshotting, and disaster recovery planning
across on-prem and cloud workloads.
-
Network Architecture, Protocols & Services – LAN/WAN design, VLANs,
routing, VPNs, Zero Trust principles, and secure remote connectivity for distributed teams.
-
Core TCP/IP Services – DNS, DHCP, IPAM, name resolution, and legacy
components (WINS) with a focus on migration to modern, standards-based solutions.
-
Remote Access & Secure Connectivity – Remote Access Services (RAS),
Always On VPN, SSL VPNs, conditional access, and secure remote administration.
-
Advanced Print & Document Services – Centralised print management,
print servers, cloud print integration, and role-based access to print resources.
-
Apple macOS Integration – Identity integration with Entra ID/AD,
device management (Intune/Jamf), file and printer sharing, and cross-platform access.
-
Legacy Platform Integration – NetWare and other legacy services
(CSNW, GSNW, DSNW, FPNW) with strategies for coexistence, migration, and retirement.
-
Unix & Linux Integration – POSIX interoperability, NFS/SMB,
SSH-based management, and integration with AD/Entra ID for unified identity.
-
Implementing Network Clients – Windows, macOS, Linux, and thin
clients in on-prem, VDI, and cloud-based environments.
-
File Synchronisation & Replication – DFS Replication,
OneDrive/SharePoint, offline files, and multi-site data consistency strategies.
-
Windows Boot Process & Recovery – UEFI, Secure Boot,
bootloaders, startup troubleshooting, rollback, and recovery environments.
-
Troubleshooting & Performance Optimisation – Using Event Viewer,
Performance Monitor, Windows Admin Center, and telemetry/observability tools to
diagnose issues and tune systems for reliability and scale.
